I got my first gray hair today. Another subtle reminder that I am going to die. It’s happening.

I showed Lynn tonight, and in a way we’re sharing our first big life moment together (other than getting married). On January 1st this year she found her first gray hair as well.

Tonight I looked at her (as she looked at my one dead hair) and I realized, (and said aloud), “we’re going to grow old together.” My mind fast-forwarded 50 years into the future, and we were completely gray, and wrinkly and droopy. And we were still looking at each other.

I will die, in this life. And before I do, I will get old. I will think slower, and move slower. I will be the old man I made fun of when I was 18.

And, hopefully, I get to share it with her. With Lynn.

I visited a cemetery in New Orleans yesterday. People who were alive and dead a century ago, a whole life ended. All the experiences we have, all the people we know, and then, 100 years later some random new person will walk by us, in the middle of their lives, not knowing who we are, and seeing so many of us.

I am not there, in that grave. Where am I?

There are so many dead people in this world. All gone. They were special. (They were.) As special as us.

Anyway — first gray hair. I feel dread and awe at the same time. I’m not afraid of dying. Just sad that I have to.

We’re so thankful we were asked to create this video for Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.

We filmed a 3 month old getting open heart surgery.

It was amazing.

Watch the video, & share it with your friends.

This is amazing and beautiful.

“CAN’T TOUCH THIS” — a video about how we never actually touch anything.

And how you are actually hovering right now.
